About the Bible translation
The Bible texts on this website are taken from:
A Voice in the Wilderness, VW-Edition 2008
This Bible can be downloaded as a module from theword.net.
The VW translation is similar to the New King James Bible.
Some Bible verses on this website have been slightly adapted from the “Voice of the Wilderness” translation. Individual words were replaced and formulations taken from other Bible translations, namely from:
- KJV King James Version 1611/1769
- ERV English Revised Version 1885
- ASV American Standard Version 1901
- ESV English Standard Version 2001 © Crossway Bibles
- NKJV New King James Version 1982 © Thomas Nelson, Inc.
- NAS New American Standard Bible 1977/1995 © La Biblia de Las Americas and The Lockman Foundation
- LEB Lexham English Bible, Version 2012, © Logos Bible Software
- NKJV-INT New King James Greek English Interlinear 1994 © Thomas Nelson, Inc.
These changes were intended to make the biblical text more accurate, i.e. more literal and closer to the original text. However, individual adaptations have also been made for readers whose first language is not English by using words that are more common than those in the VW translation.
With few exceptions, formulations were always taken from the above-mentioned Bibles.
